‘Body Shape’ weight management & fitness programmes
(Coming soon – contact us for more information)
Thinking of losing some weight and need a bit of help? Our Body Shape weight management programmes may be for you.
Unfortunately, most people who lose weight will usually put it back on within a year or two. Some of the main reasons for this are that they:
- Feel they don’t have enough knowledge, motivation and confidence about making long term lifestyle changes to keep the weight off.
- May not have control of issues such as stress, anxiety and other things that can cause them to make bad diet and lifestyle choices leading to weight regain.
- Make unrealistic, unsustainable (and sometimes unhealthy) lifestyle changes to lose weight that can’t be maintained over a long time.
To lose weight and keep it off, most of us need to make ‘realistic and sustainable’ long term lifestyle changes.
This includes things such as having a better mindset and replacing those ‘bad choices and habits’ with ones that help you lose weight and keep it off in healthy way.
To help you create new habits and stick to these lifestyle changes, our weight management programmes help provide you with the support, knowledge and skill’s to allow you to take back control, lose body fat, change your body shape (tone up), be fitter and maintain a healthy body weight.
We do this by focusing on key areas such as:
- Goal setting, helping you identify and achieve your goals around your weight, body shape, diet and fitness
- Giving you knowledge around key aspects of weight loss such as nutrition, physical activity, alcohol and portion sizes
- Developing a better mindset to help you overcome barriers and deal with setbacks
- Delivering fitness sessions to help you tone up, get fitter as well as burning off the calories
If you have any questions about the Body Shape programme or are interested in attending, please call us for a friendly chat on 07306 334222 or email ian@healthlifefitness.org

'Body Shape' weight management programme FAQs
-
There are a lot of weight loss services, diets and programmes out there. What works for someone may not work for someone else.
However, if you answer yes to any of the questions below, or tried the same thing over and over with short term results, it may be a good idea to contact us to see if we can help you.
Ask yourself, have you ever:
– Felt that your weight an issue for you?
– Tried different diets with little or no long term success?
– Wanted or been told to lose some weight to improve your health?
– Wanted to get fitter or joined a gym but are not quite sure what you should be doing?
– Felt stuck and unable to lose those extra few pounds?
– Wondered why a diet that works for someone else doesn’t seem to work as well for you?
– Wanted to change your body shape? -
The programme typically runs for 12 weeks with each session lasting between 60 – 75 minutes.
One of the main aims of the programme is that when completed, you have the knowledge, skills and mindset to stay on track, and have more control over the lifestyle choices that can affect your weight and fitness.
Each of the weekly sessions usually incorporates the following components within them:
- A behavioural change / mindset element designed to help you stay on track, overcome setbacks and be able to sustain any lifestyle changes made long term.
- A physical activity / fitness session designed to burn calories, change body shape and improve health related fitness components such as muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and muscular endurance.
- A themed informational component on relevant health topics such as how to lose weight, alcohol, carbohydrates, fat, protein, smoking, stress, portion sizes, meal planning, healthy eating, physical activity, exercise types, and how to maintain a healthy body weight.
There is also one to one contact points to see how you are getting on, as well as instructor and group support via telephone, email and a private whatsapp group.
-
As the programme aims to cover a wide range of themes and topics to help you achieve your weight management goals, it is recommended that you attend as many sessions as possible.
This is especially true during the first few weeks as this is when you’ll be setting you’re goals and strategies to achieve them over the following months.
However, we realise that things can crop up like illness, work and family commitments. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible that you are not able to attend. This allows us to update you about any sessions you miss and let you have any relevant information from it.
-
Costs start from £4.50 per session.
£6 if paying weekly, £30 if paying for 6 weeks or £54 if paying for 12 weeks upfront.
If you would like more information on Body Shape, or any of our other classes, please contact us to arrange a chat and see how we can help you.
-
The groups usually have a maximum number of about 15 people. This allows us to provide a more personalised service, cover more topics in depth and have better instructor and group support.
-
As there may be some physical activity in the sessions, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and bring a water bottle with you.
If you have a stable medical condition and need to take medication with you if exercising, please bring this with you. For example. your inhalers if asthmatic.

‘Beating Diabetes’ is a health & fitness lifestyle programme for people with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes involving exercise, education and support to help them better manage their condition whilst improving their health and fitness.

However, if not the exercise group allows you to connect with others having a similar experience while getting fitter and healthier in a fun and supportive environment.

Diabetes specific information
If you are feeling unwell or have ketones present in your blood or urine, don’t take part in strenuous physical activity.
Additionally, if you’ve had a severe hypo in the last 24 hours, do not do any physical activity. If you’ve had a hypo in the last 24 hours, your risk of having a hypo will be higher so it’s important to be careful when exercising.
It can also be a good idea to do a safety check before hand. An example of this would be:
- Having medication or glucose tablets / sugary sweets with you if needed in case of things like a hypo.
- Making sure your GP is ok for you to start exercising.
- Checking your feet – as well as choosing appropriate footwear, it is a good idea to wear enclosed shoes and to check your feet before and after exercise for any changes or concerns.
- If you wear medical alert identification, such as a bracelet or chain, ensure you have this with you.
- Drink plenty of water before, during and after exercising to avoid dehydration.
-
For most people, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Before starting on any exercise class, we ask people to complete an assessment form to check that they don’t have any issues that could be made worse by exercising.
If there are any issues, we’ll aim to support you to be able take part in the exercise class. This may mean checking with a GP or clinician that you are ok to exercise.

Personal training & small group training FAQs
-
Personal Training
Personal Training (PT) can be ideal as you will get individual support which is tailored to you reaching your specific goals. This could be for things such as weight loss or improved overall fitness.
Any programmes and workouts are usually based on your abilities, lifestyle demands (e.g. limited time in week), as well as making you get the most of your workout time. You will have 100% attention from your trainer and may see benefits sooner as your program is designed for YOU.
Having a PT can also challenge you to be better, keep you accountable and help you break through your plateaus.
Small Group Training
Small group training typically involves a trainer working with a group of up to four people. The people in this group may often have similar goals and aim such as wanting to lose weight and tone up). Having a smaller group ensures the trainer can give proper attention to each participant’s needs.
When you belong to a small exercise group, it can connect you with others who share similar traits and goals, making it easier to establish workout relationships and friendships to keep you motivated.
-
A Personal Training (PT) session typically lasts for 60 minutes, but can be changed depending on your needs.
Our pricing options vary depending on location, training frequency, and duration of commitment. It is best to give us a call or email us for more accurate pricing information.
Typically, costs for a PT session in the Gloucester or Cheltenham area are around £30 per hour, but this rate is reduced if buying a block of 4 PT sessions.
For example, if you buy a block or 4 PT sessions, you’ll get 5th one free (bringing the average cost over 5 sessions to £24).
We also don’t do long term contracts and clients can pay as they go per month.
-
Like Personal Training, a Small Group Training session typically lasts for 60 minutes, but can be changed depending on the needs of the group.
Costs for Small Group Training usually vary according to the number of people in the group. Typically for a 60 minute session this would be:
Two people – £20 each
Three people – £15 each
Four people – £10 each

For most people, this shouldn’t be a problem. Before starting on any exercise class, we ask people to complete an assessment form to check that they don’t have any issues that could be made worse by exercising. If there are any issues, we’ll aim to support you to be able take part in the exercise class. Weight Management
-
(Coming soon – contact us for more information)

FAQs
How do I know if the weight management programme is for me?
There are a lot of weight loss services, diets and programmes out there. What works for someone may not work for someone else. However, if you answer yes to any of the questions below, or tried the same thing over and over with short term results, it may be a good idea to contact us to see if we can help you.
Ask yourself, have you ever:
– Felt that your weight an issue for you?
– Tried different diets with little or no long term success?
– Wanted or been told to lose some weight to improve your health?
– Wanted to get fitter or joined a gym but are not quite sure what you should be doing?
– Wondered why a diet that works for someone else doesn’t seem to work as well for you?
– Wanted to change your body shape? How does the weight management programme work?
There are also one to one contact points to see how you are getting on, as well as instructor and group support via telephone, email and a private whatsapp group.
When is the next programme starting?
We are currently working on completing the Body Shape programme, but hope to start within the next few weeks. One of the reasons for this is that we want to make the programme as comprehensive as possible for people wanting to lose weight, keep it off and make healthier lifestyle changes to be able to get the most from it. This includes elements around things such as weight management, dealing with set backs, healthy eating and ongoing support.
If you would like to register your interest in attending the programme, please contact us.
Do I need to attend all of the sessions?
As the programme aims to cover a wide range of themes and topics to help you achieve your weight management goals, it is recommended that you attend as many sessions as possible. This is especially true during the first few weeks as this is when you’ll be setting you’re goals and strategies to achieve them over the following months.
However, we realise that things can crop up like illness, work and family commitments. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible that you are not able to attend. This allows us to update you about any sessions you miss and let you have any relevant information from it.
How much does the programme cost?
Costs start from £4.50 per session, or £6 if paying weekly, £30 if paying for 6 weeks or £54 if paying for 12 weeks upfront. How big are the classes?
The groups usually have a maximum number of about 15 people. This allows us to provide a more personalised service, cover more topics in depth and have better instructor and group support. What do I need to bring with me to each session?
As there may be some physical activity in the sessions, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and bring a water bottle with you.If you have a stable medical condition and need to take medication with you if exercising, please bring this with you. For example. your inhalers if asthmatic.
